THE COLONY (CBSDFW.COM) - Emergency crews in The Colony braved icy conditions on Monday morning to tap out a hotel fire. The incident started just after 4:00 a.m. at the Comfort Suites located in the 4700 block of Memorial Drive.

According to an official at the scene, flames were shooting from the roof of the building when firefighters first arrived. It is believed that the fire started in the wall and spread into an upper area. Three units on the building's top floor were burned.

The blaze instantly went to a third and then fourth alarm because of the occupants inside of the hotel. Everyone needed to be evacuated so that crews could battle the flames. Some of those hotel guests stayed inside of their cars to get away from the cold. Others walked to a nearby restaurant.

Fire officials said that 33 of the 76 hotel rooms were occupied on Monday morning. Comfort Suites will help those guests in the burned area transfer to rooms on the other end of the building.

There were no injuries reported during this incident. The fire was extinguished quickly. Crews now remain on the scene to monitor the situation as investigators attempt to determine the cause of the fire.
