DALLAS (KRLD) - The State Fair is only one week away now, and everyone's favorite cowboy is back in his post.
Big Tex is ready to say howdy to fairgoers again. A crane lifted him up and put him back up in Fair Park this morning. A small crowd was on hand to welcome the cowboy back.
"I worked for the Fair for 27 years," says Wilma Dorsey. "I'm watching them put him up without worrying about getting back to work!"
A father brings his two kids to see Big Tex rise again every year.
"It's awesome. It's the start of the Fair. Once they start pulling him up it's like the Fair's here and it's corndogs and football and all that good stuff."
Everyone is already looking forward to the shows, the Fletcher's corny dogs, and getting their own pictures with Big Tex.
"You've got to come to Big Tex Circle first and get your annual picture with him, whether you're a first time fairgoer or you've been here a hundred times," says Fair spokeswoman Karissa Condoianis.
This year we can look forward to a new improved Illumination Sensation show, trick riding and roping at the brand new Lone Star Horse Spectacular, and of course the new Fair foods.
"I'm excited to walk around and eat and laugh and talk and ride," Jones says.
The State Fair gates open next Friday.
