Food trucks are a phenomenon that got their start only a couple years ago, predominantly in LA, New York and San Francisco. They have since spread to cities all across the US and seem to pop up at more events every day. The food in each ranges from ordinary to gourmet and includes every style imaginable with Asian, Mexican, deli sandwiches, sushi, ice cream and cupcakes, just to name a few. Dallas was a little late to the food truck party because of parking regulations, but there are now a few spots that have daily designated areas for them, and there are frequent sanctioned parking lot events around the area. A couple of the favorite places for food truck spotting are the Dallas Arts District and Klyde Warren Park in Dallas and Clearfork Food Park in Fort Worth. Almost all trucks are available for catering private events as well. Here are some of the best food trucks in Dallas/Fort Worth to try.

Nammi calls its cuisine "Crusin' Vietnamese Fusion," the "crusin'" part for obvious reasons and the fusion part because of the variety of traditional and non-traditional ways the food can be served. Tasters can choose from banh mi, a Vietnamese sandwich, a Nammi rice bowl or Vietnamese tacos. Each person chooses their own filling and sauce to top off the flavors. With all this spice, a large cup of fresh basil mint lemonade alongside is a must. To track down Nammi on the road, follow the truck on Twitter @NammiTruck or visit the Upcoming Events page on their website.

Ruthie's Rolling Café
(972) 380-4233

There is a lot more than cheese in these grilled cheese sandwiches. Ruthie's makes your mouth water with its own description. "Just imagine two pieces of thickly cut fresh bread (drenched in butter or olive oil) grilled to a light golden brown, stuffed with a delicious artisan cheese of your choice." There are a couple favorite sandwiches, but most people choose to create their own with a variety of fillings and sauces to choose from, as well as several breads and cheeses. Ruthie's schedule is posted on their or Ruthie's page on Facebook and on Twitter @RuthiesRolling

Like many food trucks, Good Karma Kitchen's menu varies slightly from day to day, but it always offers it completely vegetarian and gluten-free. This does not mean it only serves salads. There are options like spicy Asian flatbread, meatball sandwiches and the sushi of the day. Not only is this food good for you, but the containers are good for the environment because they are all reusable or recyclable. Good Karma Kitchen can be found many days at Clearfork Food Park in Forth Worth, but to be sure, follow along on Facebook or on Twitter @KarmaKitchenDFW for updates on the truck's location and menu.

For some Italian cuisine, Pompeii has the answer, and this isn't just spaghetti and breadsticks. It offers delectable foods like caprese salad, risotto balls and fried ravioli. This ravioli is stuffed with four types of Italian cheese, including parmesan, mozzarella, provolone and ricotta. It's then covered with bread crumbs and fried to the perfect crisp, and of course served with marinara sauce for dipping. Follow Pompeii on Twitter  @PompeiiDFW find this Italian food on the road.

Gypsy Scoops
(817) 357-6730

Gypsy Scoops serves hand-dipped ice cream from an ice cream parlor on wheels. Ice cream lovers actually get to walk through the truck to personally select their favorite flavor. There are over 16 choices of the smooth, rich dessert on any given day. Gypsy Scoops can sometimes be found at Clearfork Food Park, but check it out on Twitter @GypsyScoops for the most up-to-date information on where it is serving cold treats now.
