A Word To All High School & College Graduates

This week, I want to take a moment to congratulate our high school and college graduates on a job well done. Apart from other events in life, this is one of the most important. And I know some of you will be seeking a career in media, whether it be radio, TV, film, newspaper, or digital media.

In 1972, I graduated with 66 other guys at St. Mark's School Of Texas in Dallas. It was a big day and all of my family was there. In 1975, I graduated from SMU but it was in December and back then there were no separate winter commencement exercises. Same for graduating from The University Of Texas At Austin in August 1978. So the two universities just mailed my diplomas to me. But that didn't in any way negate the importance of those two life events for me. And I was also lucky that I knew what I wanted to do in life for a career.  Since 1978, I have been blessed to be able to do what I love doing, and I hope each and every one of you find that passion and love as well.

In closing, I want to leave you with the song by the recording artist Vitamin C (real name: Colleen Fitzpatrick), named for her orange hair, who hit the Billboard Top 40 pop chart in May 2000 with "Graduation (Friends Forever)"

Again, my sincere congratulations and best wishes to all of our 2015 graduates!!  See you next time.
