30 Condo Units Destroyed In 4-Alarm Fire In Dallas

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Firefighters with Dallas Fire Rescue are working to put out a four-alarm fire at a condominium complex.

The fire started just before 1 p.m. at the Sable Ridge Condominiums, near Abrams Road and Northwest Highway.

When firefighters arrived at the three-story residential building they found fire in a first floor unit, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue.

While they worked to knock the fire down, flames had already got into the walls and floor spaces and began spreading throughout the building.

There have been no reports of injuries.

There are 30 units in the building; and after a significant collapse occurred during firefighting efforts, it's suspected that most, if not all, of them will be left uninhabitable.

A total of 50 residents were displaced as a result of the fire, but the American Red Cross is assisting with their needs.

The cause of the fire is undetermined.

The CBS11 I-Team did some checking and found the following:

No open inspection notices or hazards

No sprinkler system in the building

No requirement to retrofit sprinklers
