Father of boy found dead in Metro Detroit motel sentenced on murder, child abuse charges
(CBS DETROIT) - The father of a toddler found dead inside a suburban Detroit motel room has been sentenced to life without parole, according to Oakland County court records.
The sentence, which includes an order for $5,000 restitution, was issued Thursday by Oakland County Circuit Judge Jeffery Matis. A restitution hearing is set for April 3.
The father, Isaias Aurelio Porras, was found guilty by jury Dec. 11 of first-degree felony murder and child abuse. The murder charge has a sentence of life without parole; the child abuse charge has a sentence of 15 to 70 years.
Charges were filed in October 2021 in response to the death of the 1-year-old boy, Isaias Daniel Porras, who had multiple injuries. Farmington Hills police had responded to a request from relatives to check on the boy when they found the body in a motel room.
The child's mother, Amanda K. Jajou, was sentenced July 11 for a term of 15 to 60 years in prison on a second-degree murder charge in connection with the boy's death, Oakland County court records show. She was also sentenced on a charge of accessory after the fact to a felony, resulting in a concurrent term of 3 to 5 years.
The couple had no permanent address at the time of their arrests.
