(CBS DETROIT) — Ingham County officials are pursuing criminal charges after 15 dead cats were found at a residence Friday morning, authorities say.

Officers with Ingham County Animal Control executed a search warrant at a residence on Denver Avenue after receiving a complaint of cats living in unsanitary conditions. 

The agency says 15 dead cats and six living cats were removed from the residence and taken to the Ingham County Animal Control and Shelter. 

The surviving cats were undergoing medical evaluations Friday. 

A report requesting criminal charges will be submitted by the agency to the Ingham County Prosecutor's Office.
