Colorado snow will gradually taper off, but temperatures stay cold through the weekend
A First Alert Weather Day has been issued for Saturday because of the cold and snow. Moderate snow this morning will gradually weaken through the day, eventually tapering off this evening into tonight for the Front Range. The heaviest snow is expected across the northern mountains and foothills, into the far western portions of the metro area. Be ready for winter driving conditions today across the Denver metro area.
Light snow gradually tapers off to flurries from east to west this afternoon and evening, but doesn't end completely in the northern mountains until Sunday. A Winter Weather Advisories is in effect for the mountains north of I-70 through Sunday morning. In addition, Boulder, Lyons, Longmont, and the western suburbs are also under a Winter Weather Advisory until midnight Saturday.
As of Saturday morning here are the totals so far:
Saturday temperatures will stay below normal in the low 20s. Saturday night temperatures will be chilly, with some single digit temperatures across portions of the I-25 corridor. High temperatures on Sunday will remain much colder than normal, with highs in the Denver metro area only reaching the mid-20s. The start of next week should be very quite with temperatures in the mid-40s.
