Colorado weather: Thanksgiving week weather forecast

A pattern change arrives Sunday, with mountain snow beginning in the afternoon. The high country could pick up 2 to 5 inches of snow, especially along and north of the I-70 corridor. A Winter Weather Advisory is in place Sunday to 6am Monday for the Elkhead, Park, Flat Tops, Gore, and Elk Mountains where 4 to 10 inches of snow could stack up by Monday morning.

Sunday night some of that moisture could make its way to the Front Range with a rain/snow mix in Denver and across the northeast plains. By Monday morning, less than an inch of accumulation is expected for the Denver metro area. Temperatures will be cooler on Monday with daytime highs in the mid-40s with 30s in the mountains. On Monday, we will see gradual clearing before clouds build in the afternoon ahead of the next storm system. Monday overnight into Tuesday another round of snow will move into the mountains and could make for difficult travel on Tuesday with heavy to moderate snow in the high country. Current models are suggesting significant snowfall, with potentially 1 to 2 feet of snow in the mountains. In the Denver metro area, late Tuesday and into Wednesday light to moderate snowfall is possible making for tricky travel ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.  By Thanksgiving we could have a few morning flurries and then we will see gradual clearing with daytime highs only in the 30s. By next weekend, the cold and dry weather sticks around with daytime highs staying in the 30s and 40s.
