Cook County Sheriff has virtual solution to lack of mental health counselors to respond to 911 calls
When someone is in the grips of a behavioral or mental health crisis, 911 is generally the first call; and when law enforcement gets involved, the situation can sometimes escalate. A unique partnership between officers and counselors could help de-escalate such situations.
