Chicago announces winners of 2025 snowplow naming contest: "Bozo the Plown," "Snower Wacker"

CHICAGO (CBS) -- "Scoop, There It Is!" That's just one of the six winners of Chicago's third annual snowplow naming contest.

Thousands of people voted on a list of 50 finalists for this year's snowplow names. The six names that got the most votes were:

  1. Bozo the Plown
  2. Lollaplowlooza
  3. My Kind of Plow
  4. Snower Wacker
  5. Scoop, There It Is!
  6. Bean There, Plowed That

Signs bearing the winning names will be installed on one snowplow in each of the city's six snow districts. The first person who submitted each winning name to the contest will be offered a photo opportunity with the named plow, and a prize of city-themed swag.

Last year's winners included:

  1. Skilling It
  2. CTRL-SALT-DELETE 
  3. Casimir Plowaski
  4. Ernie Snowbanks
  5. Mies van der Snow
  6. Bad, Bad Leroy Plow

The first year of the contest ended with a virtual tie for sixth place, so the city chose seven winning names:

  1. Mrs. O'Leary's Plow 
  2. Da Plow 
  3. Salter Payton 
  4. Sears Plower 
  5. Sleet Home Chicago 
  6. Holy Plow! 
  7. Jean Baptiste Point du Shovel
