CHICAGO (CBS) -- The Chicago Blackhawks have traded defenseman Taylor Hall to the Carolina Hurricanes as part of a three-team deal that also will send forward Mikko Rantanen to Carolina.

The Blackhawks announced they will receive a 3rd round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft from Carolina in exchange for Hall. The Blackhawks also will retain 50% of Rantanen's salary cap hit, and will send the rights to forward Nils Juntorp to the Hurricanes as part of the trade.

The Hurricanes will send forwards Martin Necas and Jack Drury to the Avalanche as part of the trade.

Hall, 33, has tallied 9 goals and 15 assists in 46 games with the Blackhawks this season. In two years with Chicago, he has 11 goals and 17 assists in 56 games. He missed 72 games last season after tearing his ACL.

Getting a 3rd round pick from the Hurricanes gives the Blackhawks nine total selections in the upcoming draft, including two 1st-round picks, two 2nd-round picks, one 3rd-round pick, two 4th-round picks, one 5th-round pick, and one 6th-round pick.
