YA Books: Best November 2013 New Releases

November is the month of sequels and final installments. Your favorite series may just be wrapping up and saying goodbye before Thanksgiving. And if you're a big fan of YA standalone novels, have no fear, a few made the list. And you'll most likely recognize these powerhouse authors. 

Goodreads ratings, blogger reviews, hype and high anticipation have all been considered in the choosing of the Best 6 YA Novels with a November 2013 release date.

Contemporary

"Crash into You" by Katie McGarry (Companion Series: Pushing the Limits #3)
A wealthy girl likes to secretly race her Mustang down country roads. A street-smart guy has secrets too -- like where he lives, but last thing he needs is to be tangled with a rich girl who wants to slum it on the south side for kicks. Releases November 26th 2013 by Harlequin Teen.

My Take: Do you hear that sound? That's fangirls celebrating everywhere at the realization there's a fourth companion novel called "Take on Me," and trust me, there's a gaggle of cheerleaders for this companion series that focuses on a new romantic couple every book. "Crash into You" has received high praise thus far from fellow bloggers, and I can't wait to start reading. I was peer-pressured to open the first one by about FIVE people. (I was hounded on every social media site before I finally conceded.) Worth the read? Yes, yes, yes. And I highly recommend "Pushing the Limits" if you're drawn to issue-based romance books. It has the grit, emotions, and heartbreaking love.

"The Naturals" by Jennifer Lynn Barnes 
Cassie is a natural at reading people. She can tell you who you are and what you want. But it's not a skill that she's ever taken seriously. That is, until the FBI come knocking: they've begun a classified program that uses exceptional teenagers to crack infamous cold cases, and they need Cassie. Releases November 5th 2013 by Disney-Hyperion.

My Take: If the premise isn't enough to sway me to read this one, then the author's name surely does. Jennifer Lynn Barnes previously wrote "Raised by Wolves" and has a knack for character development. So far, the reviews look pretty good for "The Naturals" -- a mystery worth reading!

Dystopian

"Champion" by Marie Lu (Series: Legend #3)
The finale to Marie Lu's New York Times bestselling Legend trilogy. He is a Legend. She is a Prodigy. Who will be Champion? Releases November 5th 2013 by Putnam Juvenile.

My Take: The series has a large fandom, beautiful covers, and insides as pretty as the outsides. (The covers alone are an immediate buy for me.) I saw Marie Lu at a book conference in Atlanta, and when she starts speaking about her series, it becomes obvious that she has a vast knowledge of the science fiction genre. She understands the layers and how most stories are extrapolated from something known and twisted to something unknown.

"Pawn" by Aimee Carter
Kitty Doe can either spend her life as a III in misery, looked down upon by higher ranks and forced to leave the people she loves, or she can become a VII and join the most powerful family in the country. If she says yes, Kitty will be Masked -- surgically transformed into Lila Hart, the Prime Minister's niece. Releases November 26th 2013 by Harlequin Teen.

My Take: Aimee Carter previously wrote the popular Goddess Test series, and I personally believe she was one of the authors who kicked started the gods and goddesses fad in 2011. "Pawn" is Carter's first step into dystopia, and what I've heard has been nearly all positive. And have you seen the cover? Just beautiful!

Paranormal

"Fiery Heart" by Richelle Mead (Series: Bloodlines #4)
The fourth installment to the Bloodline series, which features Alchemists and a tough heroine named Sydney Sage. November 19th 2013 by Razorbill.

My Take: Some fandoms are like one scoop of Cherry Garcia. The fandom for Mead's books isn't just a cup of ice cream. It's the cherry, the banana, the whipped cream and chocolate syrup. It's huge. So much wild passion surrounds her books that it's almost impossible not to be swept up in the eagerness and delight. What do I need to say about "Bloodlines" that you already haven't heard? It's the spin-off series to the popular "Vampire Academy" novels, which will be on the big screen come February. One word to describe her books: Addicting.

"World After" by Susan Ee
(Series: Penryn & the End of Days #2) 
In this sequel to the bestselling fantasy thriller, "Angelfall," the survivors of the angel apocalypse begin to scrape back together what's left of the modern world. Releases November 19th 2013 by Skyscape.

My Take: Another case of fandom takeover. "Angelfall" is highly praised in the blogosphere, and people have been dying for Advanced Reader Copies for the past few months. If you like angels and ask for a recommendation from a YA Book Blogger, chances are, this will be one of them.
