These are exciting times to be a fan of new venues in and around the city of Atlanta. SunTrust Park opened earlier in 2017 as the new home of the Atlanta Braves, and Mercedes-Benz Stadium is about to open and play host to both the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United FC.
Even Philips Arena announced a $192.5 million renovation that looks all sorts of amazing.
As talk on The Morning Show with Fricke & Hugh centered around all these new venues, the conversation turned toward musical acts. Garth Brooks was revealed on June 22 as the first musician to play a concert at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, His concert is slated for Oct. 12, 2017.
"Two of Arthur Blank's goals for Mercedes-Benz Stadium were to create premiere home venues for the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United FC, and to attract the best in sports and entertainment to Atlanta," says Steve Cannon, chief executive officer of AMB Group. "We've succeeded in securing the premiere sporting events in America and now have the top-selling solo artist of the 20th century, Garth Brooks, coming to Atlanta to showcase the stadium as an elite music venue. We could not be more pleased to have Garth set this milestone in the stadium."
Mercedes-Benz Stadium can seat anywhere from 75,000 to 83,000 based on setup and configuration. Garth Brooks sold out the place on Oct. 12? The Morning Show crew offered up conversation on a number of other bands, musicians and musical acts that could fill the venue. Take a listen above.
