The Sports Kings: JDub's Journal "Why Hate on Pryor?"

The National Football League has always been an organization that seeks to "protect their shield" or in other words look out for their own interest.

This is understandable, especially when you consider the fact that they just came out of a lockout in which the argument was in part to how the players and the owners would split $9 Billion in PROFIT!!  You cannot foster that kind of profitability unless you look out for the greater good of the corporation.

However, in the case of young Terrelle Pryor the NFL Shield may be blocking him from entering the league.  Pryor is the former QB of the Ohio State Buckeyes who left the school prematurely because of allegations stemming from receiving improper benefits.

Several players were suspended, including Pryor, and all were made to promise to return for the 2011 Season under a suspension for the first five games.  After additional allegations surfaced for the Ohio State Football Team, Coach Jim Tressel abruptly resigned, and Terrelle Pryor declared for the NFL Supplemental Draft.  The NFL is "dragging its feet" when it is coming to declaring him eligible for the draft.  Ohio State's banning of him from football activities opened the door for eligibility but some feel that he is being "blackballed" from entering the league, especially considering that some players have already been deemed good.

In all fairness, the NFL does declare players eligible on a rolling basis so it may just not be Pryor's turn yet, but the delay is so slow that he had to postpone his pro day.  Stay tuned!!
