The Dred vs The Spread Week 4 (Bounce Back Week)

I totally blew it! Last week's debacle is not even worth revisiting. Every game was busted. Let us just consider it a "bye" week. This week we start fresh as I will deliver 3 "fa sho" picks along with a wild card pick.

Week 4 "Fa Sho" Picks

The first "fa sho" pick this week will be played between 2 teams in Wembley Stadium; London, England. This game between the Steelers and Vikings is the seventh international NFL game. The Steelers are giving the Vikings 3 points which is just few enough to make the Steelers (-3) a "fa sho" pick. The Vikings are just horrible coming off an embarrassing loss to the Browns at home last week. The Steelers are not much better, but they showed fight after being down big to the Bears last week. Both the Steelers and Vikings are winless so something has to give. While the Vikings do boast the 7th ranked offense in the NFL, averaging 27 points per game, they also rank 29th in defense giving up 32 points per game. Matt Cassel will be making his season debut at quarterback due to Christian Ponder's fractured ribs. Look for Steelers defensive coordinator, Dick LeBeau, to make stopping the run a priority, putting the game on the arm of Cassel. Fortunately for the Vikings defense, the Steelers rank 30th in the league on offense. Coach Mike Tomlin has said rookie running back, Le'Veon Bell, will start after being out with a foot injury the first 3 weeks of the season. He should receive at least 15 carries of so. Perhaps he can add spark to the running game and alleviate some pressure off Roethlisberger. With that being stated, who do you trust at 0-3 with their backs against the wall? Mike Tomlin or Leslie Frazier? Big Ben or "Flat" Cassel? Steelers or Vikings? Take the black and gold with a side of Brown.

"Fa sho" pick 2 takes us to Buffalo where the Ravens, behind the 100 million dollar Joe Flacco, plan on getting their first road victory after being thumped by the Broncos on opening night in Denver. Since then, the Ravens have won 2 home games and the defense looks great, only allowing 15 points combined in the previous 2 games. Ray Rice is iffy but even if he can not go, back up running back, Bernard Pierce, is a viable option to carry the load. The Bills could once again be with out safety, Jarius Byrd, who is listed as questionable while though expected to play, running back C.J. Spiller and wide out Stevie Johnson both will do so with nagging injuries. The Ravens appear to be strong right now. The Bills are who we think they are. They will not be let off the hook Sunday. Take the Ravens (-3).

Our next destination for a "fa sho" pick is a black hole....and so is the team. Here is another match up between winless teams as Washington takes on the Raiders in Oakland, California. Now, I have been burnt by Washington and RG3 once this season when the Packers were giving them 7 points, albeit in Green Bay, and I said take Washington. They were humiliated by Aaron Rodgers and staff to the tone of 38-20, the score not indicating the actual whooping Washington took. Shame on them. On the other hand, the Raiders, while showing a ton of spunk this season, just seem abysmal. Who will start at quarterback for the Raiders this week? Will Terrelle Pryor pass his concussion tests in time to be cleared to play or will it be Matt Flynn who was bested by Pryor in the preseason due to lack of mobility, costing him the starting role? I could waste your time with all sorts of numbers and stats to why I am taking Washington as a "fa sho" but allow me to be straight with you. The Raiders being 1-3 is something imaginable. Washington being 0-4 behind RG3 and coach Shanahan after losing to the black hole of the NFL is something difficult to fathom. Take Washington (-3) and if this is not "fa sho", shame on me. It will also be time to warm up the hot seat in D.C.

Wildcard Pick of the Week

This week's wildcard pick is the Colts (-9) versus the Jaguars. It gets no worse than the Hags while the Colts are very impressive early on especially last week when they knocked off the 49ers in fine fashion allowing only 7 points to the reigning NFC champions. The Jaguars have been getting run through on a weekly basis. Do not look for any change in Jacksonville this week.

Well, the picks are in. The "fa sho" picks are the Steelers (-3) versus the Vikings, the Ravens (-3) versus the Bills, and Washington (-3) versus the Raiders. The wildcard is the Colts (-9) versus the Jaguars. Hopefully this week is much better than the prior week. Til the next time, thank you and stay blessed.
