"The Maze Runner" (2014)

Thomas (Dylan O'Brien) finds himself in an elevator with no memory of anything other than his name.  The doors open, and he finds himself in "The Glades," a community of sixty boys surrounded by a hundred foot wall.  Their only shot at escape is from time to time a wall opens up to reveal a maze that no one has ever returned from. "The Maze Runner" Website

What to Watch For:  The film is based on the best-selling "The Maze Runner" trilogy by James Dashner.

Word on the Street: Fans of the 2013 film "We're the Millers" are going to be shocked how tough Will Poulter is in this film.

My Take:  Studios are trying to find the next "Hunger Games."  Maybe this will be the one.

What to Watch For:  The film stars Jason Bateman, Tina Fey, Adam Driver, Kathryn Hahn, Timothy Olyphant, Jane Fonda, Connie Britton and Abigail Spencer.

Word on the Street:  Adam Driver, playing the party boy of the family, is said to steal the movie.

My Take:  This film has two of my favorite actresses in it: Abigail Spencer and Connie Britton.

Word on the Street:  Lawrence Block, who wrote the novel the film is based on, thinks Liam Neeson is perfect for the part.

My Take:  Watching Neeson kick some butt on screen is always fun.

"Tusk" (2014)

Podcaster Wallace Bryton (Justin Long) goes missing after going out into the backwoods of Manitoba, after interviewing a mysterious seafarer.  Wallace's best friend Teddy (Haley Joel Osment) and Wallace's girlfriend (Genesis Rodriquez) team up with an ex-cop named Guy (Johnny Depp) to find him.  They aren't going to like what they discover.  "Tusk" Website

What To Watch For:  This is writer / director Kevin Smith (Clerks (1994), Jersey Girl (2004)) first attempt at a horror film.

Word on the Street:  Apparently Smith wants to do to more films, to make a horror trilogy using the same cast.

My Take:  What weird role is Johnny Depp taking next?

Word on the Street:  Maggie Smith is said to give another one of her brilliant performances.

My Take:  I am a big fan of Kevin Kline, who was incredible playing Errol Flynn in "The Last Of Robin Hood" (2014).

"The Disappearance Of Eleanor Rigby: Them"  (2014)

Connor (James McAcoy) and Eleanor (Jessica Chastain) are a couple going through a tough time as they try to survive living in New York. "The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby:Them" Website

What to Watch For:  This is the combination of two films that follow the same time period but are told from the differing perspectives of Connor and Eleanor.

Word on the Street:  Jessica Chastain is quickly being talked about for a Best Actress nomination for this film.

My Take:  I have been looking forward to this film for quite a while when I heard about the concept back in early 2012.
