What to Watch For:  The film is based on the 1960's TV series of the same name and has been in development since the mid-90's.

Word on the Street:  Just about everyone in Hollywood was considered for the Napoleon Solo role, including Tom Cruise and Ryan Gosling.

My Take:  The TV series was one of my favorite shows from my childhood.

"Straight Outta Compton"  (2015)

The film revolves on the rise and fall of the Compton, California hip hop group N.W.A. "Straight Outta Compton" Website

What to Watch For:  Legendary producer Will Packer is behind this film.

Word on the Street:  The film is produced by Ice Cube and is directed by F. Gary Gray, who directed Ice Cube in "Friday "(1995).

My Take:  I am looking forward to seeing this film because F. Gary Gray directed one of my favorite films, "The Italian Job" 2003).

"The End of the Tour"  (2015)

In 1996, immediately after the publication of his second book, David Foster Wallace (Jason Segal) goes on a five-day book tour with Rolling Stone writer, David Lipsky (Jesse Eisenberg). "The End of the Tour" Website

What to Watch For:  The film is based on an actual trip that the two writers took.

Word on the Street:  To prepare for the role, Segal assembled a small book club to help him understand  Wallace's first book, "Infinite Jest."

My Take:  The film is directed by James Ponsoldt who directed the amazing, "The Spectacular Now" (2013).

"Cop Car"  (2015)

A small town sheriff (Kevin Bacon) sets out to find the two youths who have taken his police car on a joyride. "Cop Car" Website

What to Watch For:  The film was a big hit at this year's Sundance Film Festival.

Word on the Street:  Critics are raving about Kevin Bacon's performance.

My Take:  The director of the film, Jon Watts, is in line to direct the next Untitled Spider-Man film.

"Fort Tilden"  (2014)

Allie (Claire McNulty) and Harper (Bridey Elliot) are best friends, and all they want to do is spend a day at the beach, but life has other plans for their day. "Fort Tilden" Website

What to Watch For:  A Kickstarter campaign was launched to help get the film a distributor.

Word on the Street:  The film had its world premiere at the 2014 SXSW film festival.

My Take:  I have been hearing great things about this film.

"The Apu Trilogy"

Three films directed by Satyajit Ray:  "Pather Panchali" (1955), "Aparajito" (1956) and "Apur Sansar" (1959). "The Apu Trilogy" Information

What to Watch For:  The films are considered some of the greatest in the history of cinema.

Word on the Street:  The three movies won over 30 awards, including wins at Cannes, Berlin and Venice Film Festivals.

My Take:  Don't miss your chance to see some of the greatest films of all time.

People places things

"People Places Things"  (2015)

Will (Jamaine Clement) is a newly single graphic novelist, who is trying to raise his two kids while navigating teaching a classroom of students and a new possible relationship. "People Places Things" Website

What to Watch For:  The film premiered at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival and was quickly picked up for distribution.

Word on the Street:  Clement has made a name for himself as part of the "Flight of the Conchords."

My Take:  This could be one of those Indie hits for the summer.


If you can't make it to the theatre this weekend, then stay at home and watch movies on Atlanta's CW.

"Finding Rin Tin Tin" (2007)  The true story of the German Shepherd who was found by An American pilot (Tyler Jensen) in France during World War I and was brought back to the states to become one of the most famous animal stars in Hollywood.

3:00 pm

"The Muppets Take Manhattan"  (1984)  Kermit and the gang head to New York to make it big on Broadway but the road to fame is going to be harder than they thought.
