What to Watch For:  Skarsgard spent four months training for the film and gained 24 pounds of muscle mass.

Word on the Street:  The film has an outstanding cast including Margot Robbie, Samuel L. Jackson, Christoph Waltz, John Hurt, Jim Broadbent, and Djimon Hounsou.

My Take:  I have been looking forward to this film since it was announced in 2003.

"The Purge: Election Year"  (2016)

U.S. Senator Charlene Roan (Elizabeth Mitchell) has fought to stop the annual purge. On the night of the last purge, she and her security agent (Frank Grillo) are forced out on the streets and must try to survive the night. "The Purge: Election Year" Website

What to Watch For:  Frank Grillo returns as "the sergeant" from the 2nd film in the series, "The Purge: Anarchy."

Word on the Street:  Edwin Hodge is the only actor to have appeared in all three Purge installments.

My Take:  I thoroughly enjoyed the 2nd film of the series, "The Purge: Anarchy" (2014).

"The BFG"  (2016)

An orphan girl (Ruby Barnhill) befriends an elderly giant (Mark Rylance) and companies him on a mission toward stopping a group of man-eating giants. "The BFG" Website

What to Watch For:  The film is directed and co-produced by Steven Spielberg.

Word on the Street:  The music for the film is composed by John Williams.

My Take:  I have been wanting to see this film since its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.

"Swiss Army Man"  (2016)

Hank (Paul Dano) is marooned on an island about to commit suicide when he discovers a dead body (Daniel Radcliffe) washed up on the beach.  Hank soon finds that the dead body has magical powers that will help him survive. "Swiss Army Man" Website

What to Watch For:  The two directors of the film, Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, won the Best Director award at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival.

Word on the Street:  The film has been the subject of much debate from film critics. Some critics love the film, others hate it.

My Take:  Paul Dano impressed me with his appearance as Brian Wilson in the  2014 film, "Love & Mercy."

"Wiener-Dog"  (2016)

A dachshund passes from one owner to another as their lives are impacted in different ways by the dog. "Wiener-Dog" Website

What to Watch For:  Writer/director Todd Solondz also gave us, "Welcome to the Dollhouse"(1995) and "Happiness" (1998).

Word on the Street:  The film has a strong cast including Danny DeVito Greta Gerwig, Kieran Culkin, and Julie Delpy.

My Take:  Julie Delpy makes any film worth watching.

"Tickled"  (2016)

Filmmaker David Farrier delves into the mysterious world of competitive endurance tickling. "Tickled" Website

What To Watch For:  The film has been nominated three times at Film Festivals.

Word on the Street:  The film has received some protests from the tickling community.

My Take: It should be an entertaining film to watch.

"The Music of Strangers"  (2015)

For the past 20 years cellist Yo-Yo Ma and over 50 other international artists have made up The Silk Road Project, a musical collective that takes composers, arrangers, visual artists, storytellers and musicians from Eurasian cultures. "The Music of Strangers" Website

What to Watch For:  The documentary explores how these artists explore the ways art can both preserve traditions and shape cultural change and evolution.

Word on the Street:  The ensemble uses various instruments from the Silk Road region, some of which are rarely heard or seen by Western cultures.

My Take:  Director Morgan Neville won an Academy Award for his 2013 film "20 Feet From Stardom."

"Our Kind of Traitor"  (2016)

A British couple (Ewan McGregor, Naomie Harris) get involved with a Russian money launderer (Stellan Skarsgard) who soon involves them in a high-stakes journey through Paris, the Swiss Alps, and London. "Our Kind of Traitor" Facebook Page

What to Watch For:  The film is based on the 2010 book by British novelist John le Carre.

Word on the Street:  Director Susanna White has been nominated for two Primetime Emmy awards for her directing work.

My Take:  I always enjoy seeing Stellan Skarsgard work on the silver screen.
