"Tammy" (2014)

Tammy (Melissa McCarthy) lost her job and found out that her husband has been having an affair with a neighbor. Deciding to hit the road and with no money, she enlists her Grandma Pearl (Susan Sarandon) to go on a road trip to get away from her troubles. Pearl and the road are about to teach Tammy a few of life's lessons. "Tammy" Website

What to Watch For: Since her breakout role in "Bridesmaids" (2011), McCarthy has been hit or miss at the box office, with a dud, "Identity Thief" (2013), and a hit with "The Heat" (2013)..

Word on the Street : It's said that Sarandon steals the movie from McCarthy, playing the hard-drinking , outspoken Pearl.

My Take: Hey, I am ready for a 2014 version of "Thelma and Louise!"

Tuck (Astro), Alex (Teo Halm) and Munch (Reese C. Hartwig) are about to lose their neighborhood because a new highway may be built through it. After one of the gang finds a mysterious object that emits a road map on their cell phones, the boys decide to spend their last night finding out where the map leads. Little do they know, they are about to go on an adventure of a lifetime. "Earth to Echo" Website

What to Watch For: Brian "Astro" Bradley, who plays Tuck, shot to fame on the first season of "The X Factor." This is his first feature film.

Word on the Street: Producer Andrew Panay came up with the idea of creating an "E.T." for the online, texting generation.

My Take: I am hearing great things about this young cast, with Astro singled out as the narrator of the film.

"Deliver Us From Evil" (2014)

NY Police officer Ralph Sarchie (Eric Bana) investigates a series of mysterious crimes. He soon enlists the help of Father Mendoza (Edgar Ramirez), when Ralph realizes that the source of the crimes may be Satanical in nature. Can the two men defeat the demonic forces that seem to be taking over the city? "Deliver Us From Evil" Website

What to Watch For: The film is written and directed by horror vet Scott Derrickson, who brought us The Exorcism of Emily Rose (2005) and Sinister (2012).

Word on the Street: Critics are hopeful this will be better than the run of the mill horror film due to the outstanding cast of Bana, Ramirez, Joel McHale and Olivia Munn.

My Take: I am ready for some good old fashion horror scenes, so I hope this film lives up to its trailer.

"Life Itself" (2014)

A documentary that looks at the life and work of Pulitzer Prize-winning film critic Roger Ebert. Ebert, with Gene Siskel, became the most famous film critics with their syndicated show, "At the Movies." The film looks at those years and Roger's battle with cancer. "Life Itself" Website

What to Watch For: Film legends such as Martin Scorsese, Werner Werzog and Errol Morris are interviewed about Roger.

Word on the Street: The film is said to look at Ebert's life, warts and all, including his battles with alcohol and weight gain.

My Take: I didn't always agree with Roger's reviews, but I loved his writing style.
