A small-time touring magician (James Franco) dreams of being a huge success. Little does he know that he is about to travel to a magical place called, Oz, where he will have to decide if he is of legend-making material. Oz The Great and Powerful Website

What to Watch For: Director Sam Rami is no newcomer to big special effect filled movies, as he directed the "Spider-Man" series starring Tobey Maguire.

Word on the Street: Both Robert Downey Jr. and Johnny Depp were attached at one time to the role of the Wizard. It's going to be interesting to see Franco in this role.

My Take: Michelle Williams, Rachel Weisz and Mila Kunis play the witches of Oz - lots of award winning actresses for one film.

Dead Man Down (2013)

Victor (Colin Farrell) is the right-hand man to a New York City crime boss (Terrence Howard). Now, Victor must find the killer who is threatening his boss. A woman named Beatrice (Noomi Rapace), who seduces Victor and complicates things even more, may push him in over his head. Dead Man Down Website

What to Watch For: This film reunites Danish director, Niels Arden Oplev with his "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" (2009) actress, Noomi Rapace.

Word on the Street: Besides the headliners Farrell, Rapace and Howard, the cast also includes Isabelle Huppert, F. Murray Abraham and Armand Assante.

My Take: I am looking forward to another Colin Farrell film after his amazing performance in last year's "Seven Psychopaths."

Emperor (2013)

Source: Roadshow Pictures

World War II has ended and General Douglas MacArthur (Tommy Lee Jones) has landed on Japan soil. Emperor Hirohito may now be charged as a war criminal. MacArthur has picked General Fellers (Matthew Fox) to investigate and decide if the Emperor is to be put on trial; a trial that could destroy a country. Emperor IMDB Page

What to Watch For: The film tackles a time period in history that the American public knows very little about. Will the just Oscar nominated Jones be the box office draw that the film needs?

Word on the Street: The film, besides being an historical drama, is also a love story where Fox's character strikes up a romance with a Japanese woman (Eriko Hatsune) whom he dated years ago in college.

My Take: How perfect is the casting of Tommy Lee Jones as MacArthur!

If you can't go to the theatre this weekend, stay at home and watch movies on CW69.
