"Non-Stop" (2014)

Bill Marks (Liam Neeson) is an Air Marshall on a routine transatlantic trip, that is until he gets an instant message over a closed system that unless a ransom is met one person will die on the plane every twenty minutes. Marks enlists a Flight Attendant (Michelle Dockery) and a passenger (Julianne Moore) to help him stop this act of killing. "Non-Stop" Website

What to Watch For: This is the second teaming of Director Jaume Collet-Serra and Neeson. Their previous film together was the thriller, Unknown (2011).

Word on the Street: Critics are curious about what part Oscar-nominee Lupita Nyong'o is playing in this film.

My Take: I always enjoy Liam Neeson in an action role. He seems very comfortable in the part.

"Son of God" (2014)

The story of Jesus (Diogo Morgado), from his humble beginnings, his lifelong teaching, his crucifixion and his resurrection. "Son of God" Website

What to Watch For: This is from the team who brought you the hugely successful TV miniseries, "The Bible," which was the highest rated cable show of 2013.

Word on the Street: Many theaters are already reporting heavy sales for opening weekend.

My Take: It will be interesting if this film makes Morgado a star in the U.S., as he is mostly know for his TV work in Portugal.

"Kids for Cash" (2014)

A documentary about the "kids for cash" scandal that unfolded in Pennsylvania in 2008. A hard-line judge, who was known for his stiff sentences of juveniles, was accused of accepting bribes from privately-owned juvenile prison facilities. By handing down the harsh, long term sentences, the judge increased the number of inmates at the prisons. "Kids for Cash" Website

What to Watch For: The film unfolds as a detective piece as the shocking secrets in the small town are revealed.

Word on the Street: Critics are calling this film "nightmarish and heart-wrenching."

My Take: First time director Robert May has produced several well received films, including The War Tapes (2006) and The Fog of War: Eleven Lesson from the Life of Robert. S. McNamara (2003).

Stalingrad (2013)

This film features the battle for a city that changed the tide of World War II. A group of Russian soldiers fight to hold onto a building against a determined and ruthless German army. "Stalingrad" Website

What to Watch For: This is the highest-grossing Russian movie of all time and will be released in 3D IMAX.

Word on the street: Many critics feel this should have been one of the nominees for the Best Foreign Language Picture at this year's Academy Awards.

My Take: The trailer for the film looks compelling and impressive.

If you can't make it to the theatre this weekend, then stay at home and watch movies on CW69.
