Jack (Nicholas Hoult) accidentally discovers a long, lost way to the land of the Giants, a race that the humans had fought and defeated long ago. Now Jack is forced to defend his family and those in the kingdom from a group of super-beings hell-bent on recovering land that, they feel, belongs to them.

What to Watch For: Director Bryan Singer is no stranger to the fantasy action films, having directed X-Men (2000), X-Men 2 (2003) and written X-Men First Class (2011).

Word on the Street: Could Nicholas Hoult be two for two after his Zombie Rom-Com Warm Bodies did so well at the box office?

My Take: I am looking forward to this film as the cast includes two of my favorite actors, Ewan McGregor and Stanley Tucci.

21 and Over (2013)

Jeff (Justin Chon) is a straight A college student with a very promising life ahead of him. It's the night before an important interview with a prestigious medical school, and Jeff just wants to stay at home and sleep. But, his two buddies (Skylar Astin and Miles Teller) convince Jeff to go out to celebrate his birthday. It's a birthday he will never forget, but only if he survives it.

What to Watch For: The film was partially shot in China and will be re-edited to depict a totally different storyline when it is released there.

Word on the Street: Everyone has been calling this film The Hangover Jr.

My Take: With the continued success of The Identity Thief, it's apparent the theatre-going public is in desperate need of a comedy.

Phantom (2013)

Set in the late 1960's, Demi (Ed Harris) is the captain of a Russian missile submarine, and he's embarking on his last mission before he retires. But, the mission is classified, and Demi must deal with a KGB agent (David Duchovny) who won't say what the mission is about or where the sub is going. Demi soon discovers that it's a mission that just may drag the world into another war.

Phantom Movie Website

What to Watch For: The film is inspired by a Soviet Submarine missile that was found on the ocean floor in the 1990's.

Word on the Street: Director, Todd Robinson, began his career directing documentaries, which should help him create a realistic feel to the film.

My Take: The film comes from a long line of Russian Submarine movies including The Hunt for Red October (1990), Crimson Tide (1995) and K-19: The Widowmaker (2002).
