My Take: I find it interesting that actor John Francis Daley (Bones, Freaks, and Geeks) co-directed this film with Jonathan Goldstein.

What to Watch For: Jane the Virgin's own Gina Rodriquez is in this film.
Word on the Street: The film is based on the first book in the Southern Reach trilogy by Jeff VanderMeer.
My Take: The film is written and directed by Alex Garland, who directed one of my favorite films, Ex Machina (2014).

A Fantastic Woman (2017) R

What to Watch For: The film is up for an Oscar as Chile's entry as Best Foreign Language Film of the Year.
Word on the Street: The film has won over 14 awards at film festivals.
My Take: Daniela Vega has been getting great reviews, and she won Best Actress at the 2018 Palm Springs International Film Festival.

What to Watch For: The film won the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture – Foreign Language.
Word on the Street: Diane Kruger won the Best Actress award at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival.
My Take: I can't believe this film doesn't have an Oscar nomination for the Best Foreign Language Film.
