Enola Homes (Millie Bobby Brown), the great detective Sherlock Holmes (Henry Cavill) teen sister, discovers her mother (Helena Bonham Carter) is missing and sets out to find her and discovers a mystery that her famous brother can't solve.     Enola Holmes Website

What to Watch For:  Director Harry Bradbeer is coming off two Emmy Award wins for his work on the TV show Fleabag.

Word on the Street:  The film is based on the Nancy Springer book series The Enola Holmes Mysteries.

My Take:  As a fan of the Sherlock Holmes character, I know that a sister was never mentioned in the books, but the fact that Sherlock had a brother named Mycroft wasn't mentioned in the stories until he just showed up in one.

Old Dolio (Evan Rachel Wood) has spent her whole life doing one low-level scam after another with her parents (Debra Winger, Richard Jenkins). Old Dolio's life is changed when Melanie (Gina Rodriguez) joins the group for a major heist.   Kajillionaire Website

What to Watch For:  The film is written and directed by Miranda July who in 2005 wowed the Indie world with her film, Me and You and Everyone We Know.

Word on the Street:  The movie won the Best Feature Film Audience Award at the 2020 L'Etrange Festival.

My Take:  I want to see this film because Jane the Virgin's star Gina Rodriquez is in this movie.


Public Trust  (2020)

What to Watch For:  The executive producer of the film is long-time conservation activist Robert Redford.

Word on the Street:  The film is directed by David Byars, who also directed the award-winning 2017 documentary No Man's Land.

My Take:  Wildlife conservation is something that is incredibly important to me, so I will be seeing this film.


Ottolenghi and the Cakes of Versailles  (2020)

Documentary that follows world-renowned Chef Yotam Ottolenghi on his quest to bring the art and decadence of Versailles to life in cake form at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.     Ottolenghi and the Cakes of Versailles Website

What to Watch For:  The film explores the relationship between modern-day social media and the court of French Monarchy, focusing on the intersection between food, culture, and history.

Word on the Street:  Filmmaker Laura Gabbert knows a bit about food documentaries as she directed an episode of the TV show Ugly Delicious and one of the best docs of 2015, City of Gold about the world of food writer Jonathan Gold.

My Take:  I'm all in on any documentary about food and its history.


Ava  (2020)  R

Ava (Jessica Chastain) is an assassin who works for a black ops organization, traveling across the world specializing in high profile hits. When a job goes sideways, Ava is forced to go on the run and fight for her survival.     Ava Website

What to Watch For;  The cast includes John Malkovich, Common, Geena Davis, Ioan Gruffudd and Colin Farrell.

Word on the Street:  The film is directed by Tate Taylor, who The Help (2011) and The Girl on the Train (2016).

My Take:  Who doesn't want to see Jessica Chastain play a kick butt assassin?
