My Take: I understand the audience at the Toronto International Film Festival gave it a standing ovation.

"Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children" (2016)

What to Watch For: The film is based on the 2011 novel of the same name by Ransom Riggs.
Word on the Street: Eva Green plays Miss Peregrine in the film. Zooey Deschanel, Miranda Cosgrove, Demi Lovato, Laura Marano and Selena Gomez were considered for the role of Dr. Golan.
My Take: Jane Goldman wrote the script. Her past films include "Kingsman: The Secret Service" (2014) and "X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014).

"The Dressmaker" (2015)
A glamorous woman (Kate Winslet) returns to her small town in rural Australia. While she changes the style and dress of the women of the small town, she is there to get revenge on those who did her wrong in the past. "The Dressmaker" Website
What to Watch For: The film has won 5 awards in Australia, including Best Lead Actress for Kate Winslet at the Australian Film Institute Awards.
Word on the Street: Director Jocelyn Moorhouse's, last feature film was 1997 "A Thousand Acres."
My Take: I always enjoy seeing Kate Winslet work on the silver screen.

"Masterminds" (2016)

What to Watch For: The cast includes Jason Sudeikis, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Owen Wilson, and Leslie Jones.
Word on the Street: Zach Galifianakis joined the cast to replace Jim Carrey after he dropped out.
My Take: I like the name of the hitman whom Jason Sudeikis plays; Mike McKinney.

"Operation Avalanche" (2016)

What to Watch For: Matt Johnson, who stars in the film, also co-wrote and directed the film.
Word on the Street: The film has been nominated at several film festivals, including winning 3rd place at the Fantasia Film Festival.
My Take: Film critics that have seen the film seem split on what they think of the film. The movie has been called "Fresh" and "Diverting,' while others have said it "doesn't go far enough."
