The Center for Disease Control sends out a team of doctors to find a cure for a virus that is rapidly spreading throughout the world. Can they figure out what is causing it? More importantly, how they can stop it?
What to Watch For: This movie features an impressive cast of stars, including Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow, reminiscent of the disaster films of the 70's (The Poseidon Adventure, The Towering Inferno).
Word on the Street: The film, shown at film festivals, is being called scarier than any horror film released recently. The Director, Steven Soderbergh (Traffic, Ocean's Eleven), apparently has a hit on his hands.
Bucky Larson
Born to Be a Star: Bucky (played by Reno 911's Nick Swardson) finds out that his parents were once porn stars. He is convinced that if he moves to Hollywood, he can become one, too. Bucky Larson website
What to Watch For: Will audiences turn out for a film that has no real stars as headliners?
Word on the Street: The studio is hoping that this movie will do for Swardson what Billy Madison did for Adam Sandler… who by the way, is one of the scriptwriters of the film.
Warrior
Two brothers are on a path to meet each other in a mixed martial arts tournament. The younger brother is fighting to keep his family's home; the older brother is fighting, with the help of his father (played by Nick Nolte), to conquer demons of his past. Warrior website
What to Watch For: Two time Academy Award nominated, Nick Nolte, gives a gripping performance as the father and brings some star power to a film where the two leads are actors known mostly for their European television roles.
Word on the Street: This is the first "mainstream" film to try and capitalize on the popularity of MMA.
