Baby (Ansel Elgort) is the best getaway driver out there, and he works for a veteran kingpin (Kevin Spacey) who he owes big money to. Baby's world changes when he meets a young waitress (Lily James) who gives him something other than driving to live for. Baby Driver Website

What to Watch for:  The robust and versatile cast includes Jon Bernthal, Eiza González, Jon Hamm and Jamie Foxx.   The film was shot and set in Atlanta.  No special effects were used in the car chase sequences.

Word on the Street:  Writer/director Edgar Wright has wanted to make this picture since 1994.  He directed a music video, Mint Royale's Blue Song, that used a similar concept.

My Take:  I guarantee that after you see this film, you will want to buy the soundtrack.

The film opens in Atlanta on Wednesday.

The Beguiled  (2017)  R

At a girl's school in Virginia during the Civil War, the young women at the school, have been sheltered from the outside world. A wounded Union soldier (Colin Farrell) is taken in, and it changes the school forever. The Beguiled Website

What to Watch For:  Sofia Coppola won Best Director at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival.

Word on the Street:  The film is a remake of the 1971 film of the same name that starred Clint Eastwood.

My Take:  The cast includes Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst, and Elle Fanning.

The film opens nationwide on Friday.

Despicable Me 3  (2017)  PG

Gru (Steve Carell) has lost his job and has decided to go back to being a villain. His long-lost twin brother, Dru (Steve Carell) shows up, and they go on a criminal heist together. Despicable Me 3 Website

What to Watch For:  Voice cast includes Trey Parker, Kristen Wiig, Miranda Cosgrove, Steve Coogan, Jenny Slate and Julie Andrews.

Word on the Street:  The late John Cygan, a noted voice actor, appears for the last time in this film.

My Take:  I am always up to see what the Minions are up to.

The House  (2017)  R

Scott (Will Ferrell) and his wife, Kate (Amy Poehler) has mistakenly spent their daughter's college fund. Scott along with some friends, decide to start an illegal casino in his basement. The House Website

What to Watch For:  Co-writer/director Andrew Jay Cohen is known for writing Neighbors (2014), and Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates (2016).

Word on the Street:  Mariah Carey was supposed to have a role in the film, but it has been left on the cutting room floor.

My Take:  It will be interesting to see Jeremy Renner in a comedy.

Okja  (2017)  TV-MA

A young girl named Mija (Seo-Hyun Ahn) has raised a giant pig named Okja for the last ten years in Korea.  A massive agricultural company now wants the pig back and will do anything to take it back to their headquarters. Mija will have to travel far and wide, battling bad guys and a mean CEO (Tilda Swinton), to save her beloved Okja. Okja Website

What to Watch For:  The film was written and directed by Joon-ho Bong, the award winning writer/director of Snowpiercer  (2013), Mother (2009) and The Host (2006).

Word on the Street:  The film is not being released to theatres but will be available on Netfilx.

My Take:  The trailer looks amazing and I loved Snowpiercer.

The film will be available on Netflix on Wed. June 28th.

Like Crazy  (2016)

What to Watch For:  The film won five David di Donatello Awards, the Italian Oscars.

Word on the Street: The film has won Best Narrative Feature Film at film festivals such as the 2017 Sarasota Film Festival and the Sofia International Film Festival.

My Take:  Writer/director Paolo Virzi also did one of my favorite Italian films, Human Capital (2013).

The film opens Friday exclusively at Landmark Midtown Art Cinema
