Out on Film Oct 1-8

Out on Film, Atlanta's LGBT film festival is celebrating it's 28th year. Out on Film 28 will take place from October 1-8th at Landmark Midtown Art Cinema. Out on Film has grown to become one of the major LGBT film festivals in the country.

The opening night film is Andrew Nackman's "Fourth Man Out." The comedy stars Evan Todd as a blue-collar mechanic who comes out to his strait friends. Initially shocked due to his love of hockey, beer and cars, his friends decide that they are going to try and help him find a boyfriend. Lead actor Evan Todd will in attendance.

The closing night film is Pat Mills' "Guidance." Mills stars in this comedy about a former child actor who is looking for work, decides to become a high school guidance counselor. Other highlights are; "Freeheld" starring Julianne Moore and Ellen Page as a couple that after Moore's character is diagnosed with terminal cancer, battle to secure pension benefits and "Tab Hunter Confidential", a documentary about the actor and his life in the closet in Hollywood. Other films of note are; "54: The Director's Cut" starring Ryan Phillippe, Mike Meyers, Neve Campbell and Salma Hayek, "Addicted to Fresno" starring Natasha Lyonne and Judy Geer, and "The Summer of Sangaile."

The festival will also have a number of short films and documents, including a special screening of the documentary "The Year We Thought About Love". The film is about what happens when LGBTQ youth of color band together and dare to be "out on stage, sharing their lives and loves. The screening will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, Oct. 3rd.
