NBA G League Delays Regular Season Start Until January 5, 2022

COLLEGE PARK, Ga. (CW69 News at 10) -- The NBA G League has announced that its regular season, which was originally set to tip-off on Monday, Dec. 27, will start on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022.

According to info from CW69 Sports reporter Sam Crenshaw and the league, the delay will give teams an opportunity to allow players to safely return to their home teams following the Christmas holiday and for teams to replenish their rosters following player call-ups by NBA teams.

A number of NBA teams have called up G League players as a result of COVID-related illnesses on their regular rosters.

The College Park Skyhawks had originally been scheduled to play in Indiana against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on Monday.

Information regarding G League games originally scheduled between Dec. 27 and Jan. 4 will be provided by league officials at a later date.

The College Park Skyhawks are the G League affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks and play home games at the Gateway Center Arena at College Park. Single-game and season ticket information is available by contacting the Skyhawks front office at 404-878-3370.
