"Monsterama" Oct 7-9

Just in time to get you in the mood for Halloween is "Monsterama" a convention that celebrates the fantastic in film, literature, and art with an emphasis on the horror movie. In its third year, "Monsterama" will be hosting stars from classic horror films, TV's "Twin Peaks", the Gremlins movies, and many more exciting guests.  In addition to celebrity guests, "Monsterama" will have classic horror movies showing, many hours of programming and panels discussing film and tv, and a wide range of workshops involving makeup and special effects.

A number of the stars scheduled to appear at the Atlanta Marriott Perimeter Center on Oct. 7-9.  Caroline Munro, who starred in "The Golden Voyage of Sinbad" (1973), "At the Earth's Core" (1976) and as a Bond girl in "The Spy Who Loved Me" (1977) will be at the convention and also is doing a special "Bunch with Caroline Munro and 25 Fans" on Friday, Oct. 7th.  Suzanna Leigh starred in a number of Hammer films, along with Roger Moore on his TV shows "The Saint" and "The Persuaders."  Zach Galligan starred in two "Gremlins" movies with Phoebe Cates and Gizmo. Also headlining at "Monsterama" is James Marshall, who played the brooding anti-hero James Hurley on "Twin Peaks,' both the hit TV show and the movies.

There will be over twenty guests total are on tap for "Monsterama" including musicians, artists, directors, and experts in film and special effects.  Emmy Award Winning makeup artist John Goodwin will be demonstrating the application of a recreation of on-screen makeup. The popular makeup competition, FACE ON, returns, with prizes provided by the Stan Winston School of Character Arts. Other panels will focus on guest experiences, literary horror, screenings of rare and classic TV programs and films.  Some of the highlights of the screenings are classic TV shows like "Lost in Space," "The Wild, Wild West," "Kolchak; The Night Stalker" and some blasts from the past of old Saturday morning cartoons.  Classic horror movies such as "The Crimson Ghost" (1946) and "Castle of Blood" (1963) will be shown with more modern classic horror films such as "Bram Stoker's Dracula" (1992) and "Shadow of the Vampire" (2000).

Anthony Taylor, the Chairperson for "Monsterama,"  says about the convention ""Everyone likes to be scared a little. That's what we celebrate at "Monsterama," being scared a little. It's a great family atmosphere at"Monsterama," celebrating the classic monsters like Dracula, Frankenstein, The Wolfman, Godzilla, and King Kong. And this year the Creature from The Black Lagoon might be making a special appearance!"
