Marietta Vehicle Crash Sends Both Drivers To The Hospital

MARIETTA, Ga. (CW69 News at 10) -- On Sunday August 16 at approximately 7:20 PM a serious accident occurred in the intersection of North Marietta Parkway and Cobb Parkway North according to a release form the Marietta Police Department.

The preliminary investigation shows Marietta resident Tyler Peacock, 28, was driving his 2000 Toyota 4Runner westbound on North Marietta Parkway approaching the intersection of Cobb Parkway North.  Rhena McCormick, 56, of Marietta was driving her 2016 Toyota Camry northbound on Cobb Park North, approaching the intersection of North Marietta Parkway.

The release says that the initial information is that Peacock failed to stop for a red light, causing the two vehicles to collide in the intersection.  The force of the crash caused the 4Runner to overturn and Peacock, who was unrestrained, was ejected from his vehicle.  Both drivers were transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital with serious injuries.

The crash is still under investigation and charges, while expected, have not yet been filed.  Anyone who saw this accident is urged to contact Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Investigator St. Onge at 770-794-5352.
