Kanye West Debuts 'I Am a God' At NYC Met Gala, All Hell Breaks Loose
Kanye West debuted his new song, presumably titled "I Am a God" on Monday (May 6) at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (Met) Gala. While he piqued fans' interests with the song's lyrics, the devil is in the details.
Little is known about "I Am A God" just yet. While clips of the performance surfaced on the Internet during the Gala, much of Kanye's performance was recorded through the Twitter mobile app Vine, which allows users to record six-seconds of video.
Producer A-Trak, who was for a time West's personal DJ and collaborator, posted a video to Vine that features Yeezy shouting "I am a god!" into his mic, followed by a series of screeches and yells. The backing music seems to have the dramatic intensity of "Power," the lead single off West's last solo record, 2010's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
Another clip from actress Jaime King reveals a little more of the song, with the caption "Kanye bringing the gangsta punk #metball," while fog swirls around the rapper.
