Greenville Swamp Rabbits Blow Past Atlanta Gladiators 3-2 In ECHL Action

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Atlanta Gladiators lost a 3-2 game to the Greenville Swamp Rabbits in ECHL action at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville on Sunday afternoon.

Atlanta led well into the middle of the third period before Greenville picked up two goals to go ahead to take the victory away from the Gladiators.

The Swamp Rabbits initially took a 1-0 lead early in the first period after a power-play goal by Diego Cuglietta. Early in the second, Atlanta's Kameron Kielly evened the contest by rifling the puck past Greenville goaltender John Lethemon. The Gladiators took a 2-1 lead at the midpoint of the second when Derek Topatigh sent a shot that Mike Pelech rebounded into the back of the net.

Greenville's Liam Pecararo tied things again in the middle of the third before Frederic Letourneau scored a short-handed goal late in the third to pick up the game-winner for the Swamp Rabbits.

 

Atlanta goaltender finished the game with 25 saves on 28 shots. Lethemon recorded 21 saves on 23 shots for Greenville.

The Gladiators take the ice again next Wednesday night at Hertz Arena in Estero, Florida to kick off a three-game road series in the Sunshine State against the Everblades.

The Atlanta Gladiators are the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Ottawa Senators and the AHL's Belleville Senators. The Greenville Swamp Rabbits are affiliated with the NHL's Florida Panthers and the AHL's Charlotte Checkers.
