Atlanta, Ga. (CW69 News at 10) -- Georgia ranks first out of the states most affected since the start of the COVID-19 crisis, according to WalletHub, a personal finance website.
Wallethub says it collected Department of Labor data to rank states with the biggest increases in unemployment due to the coronavirus.
The data shows Georgia topped New Hampshire, Louisiana, Kentucky and Florida, under that category.
But when you narrow the data down to just last week, Florida ranked first, then Georgia second, followed by Kentucky, Louisiana, then North Carolina.
Wallethub says the findings are based on increases in the number of unemployment claims filed as compared to this time last year.
The U.S. Department of Labor is reporting COVID-19 has left just over 30 million people without jobs since the pandemic started.
