Furkids Animal Rescue Says Van Stolen

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. (CW69 News at 10) -- Furkids Animal Rescue and Shelters is reporting the organization's van was stolen last week. They're asking anyone with information to come forward and for donations to help purchase another van.

While the shelter's headquarters and cat shelter are in Cumming, staff members said the incident occurred at their new John's Creek Thrift Store located at 9850 Nesbit Ferry Road. They said they filed a report with the Johns Creek Police Department and said the van looks similar to the one shown in their Facebook post detailing the theft.

Furkids Inc. Marketing Director Susan Segars said the van had their logos attached with magnets instead of permanent graphics, and she said the Georgia tag number is RHP8476.

UPDATE: Dumped and stripped, our van has been located in Monroe, GA. We don't know all the details, including whether...

Segars said the theft has put the organization in a major bind:
The theft of this van, especially in the middle of the pandemic, will slow our efforts to help homeless animals and raise money we need to carry out our work. The van was far more valuable in worth to us than it is in insurance reimbursement, so whatever insurance will reimburse us is far less than what it will take to replace the van's function in our operations.
She also indicated they plan to place theft-proofing devices in their other vehicles, which will add additional costs during a time when fundraising has dropped.
