CW69 Honors Local High School Grads During 'Class Of 2020' Network Special

On Saturday May 16, 2020, The CW Network aired a special called "Graduate Together: America Honors The High School Class of 2020."

During the segment, CW69 paid tribute to several students in the metro Atlanta area who are graduating during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

This comes as proms and formal graduation ceremonies were cancelled or postponed all around the country due to social distancing and health safety guidelines. Despite the challenges, the students provided messages of hope and perseverance during this unprecedented time.

Atlanta's CW69 pays tribute to the Class of 2020 graduates.

Two students were given a platform to deliver graduation speeches they were planning on giving. In the first spot, Woodstock High School senior Alanis Broussard shared her message of triumph.

"2020 taught me that I have a spark. I'm a phoenix, born out of the ashes, resurrecting the hearts of the heartless and the voices of the voiceless," she said.

  • Christina Sanders, Lakeside High School
  • Kaleb Stewart, Whitefield Academy
  • Andrew Millsaps, Blessed Trinity Catholic
  • Abigail Jackson, Greater Atlanta Christian

Elite Scholars Academy Valedictorian David Egbuna spoke during the second spot, recalling all of the efforts and accomplishments of his classmates.

"This may be the end of our time in high school, but this time is truly just the start of our lives. No matter what happens, we matter, and we will continue to make a difference in this world," Egbuna said.
