Veteran's Day day and weekend is a great time to enjoy quality time with family and friends. The Atlanta area is home to several fun attractions, festivities and events perfect for visitors of all ages. Depending on what you want to do and where you want to do it, these places are great to choose from. Atlanta Zoo salutes members of the U.S. Armed Forces with a bunch of exciting events and free admission for active military personnel. Friends and family accompanying military member(s) get $4 off. Be prepared to walk and make sure to wear comfortable shoes. Visitors get entertainment and exercise while having fun. The animals and surroundings are beautiful.  There's something for people of all ages, so head to the Atlanta Zoo to celebrate the occasion.

The Wall That Heals comes to Atlanta to honor our Vietnam Veterans. The Georgia Veterans Day Parade Association of Atlanta honors Vietnam Veterans by showcasing "The Wall That Heals" traveling exhibit.  The art exhibit features a replica version of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington but on a much smaller scale. The 250 ft. (in length) wall is great for kids and adults alike and is a perfect way to remember veterans on their special day.

Veteran's Day is the perfect day to pack a picnic and head out to Stone Mountain.  The park is home to several activities, including shows and a gondolier ride to the top of the mountain. Lakes and walking paths surround the well-known Georgia Mountain. Go for the day, or bring a tent and stay overnight. The park is the perfect place to spend the day. Adventure Passes for active military, spouses, dependents and veterans are 30 percent off with military personnel identification.
