Nothing is more pleasing to the ear than live music. Once you grow accustomed to live performances, no other form of music can match up. So take an iPod hiatus and get out to these hot music spots. This list provides places to discover new music in the Atlanta area. Take caution, however, because after a few visits, recordings will be hard to return to.

The Seasons Bistro
41 Griffin St.
McDonough, GA 30253
(678) 814-4995

Venture down to south metro Atlanta, just off the McDonough Square, to The Seasons Bistro. This spot serves up not only exquisite meals, but also live music on many nights each week. Enjoy new and sometimes famous artists all while nestled in an historic building over 100 years old. The lounge features multiple types of seating like a large couch, chairs and traditional seating areas to accommodate patrons. Will Turpin of Collective Soul fame plays here regularly performing new music he is currently working on. For what is to come at this venue, keep watch over its calendar so you don't miss your new favorite performer.

Variety Playhouse
1099 Euclid Ave. N.E.
Atlanta, GA 30307
(404) 524-7354

Some venues just attract the best up-and-coming artists. Variety Playhouse is such a place. Most of its performers are so amazing that their shows here will likely to be their last performance outside of a large arena. Maybe you are the only one at the water fountain the next morning to have heard of them, but it won't be long until everyone is rocking to their tunes on their own iPods.
