Few things are more romantic than the ballet, and few ballets are more romantic than "Romeo and Juliet." Valentine's Day weekend marks the Southeast premiere of this production of the ballet. At least you know your evening will end better than that of the star-crossed lovers. The live Prokofiev score performed by the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra makes for a lush, beautiful evening.

If you're not up to the commitment of a night at the ballet, consider a play instead. "Love Isn't So Simple" is described as an emotional play that follows the journey of a couple through the course of their relationship. It might be a bit heavy for a first date or a new couple, but more mature couples will likely relate. Tickets are only $25.

Woodruff Arts Center - Symphony Hall
1280 Peachtree St. N.E.
Atlanta, GA 30309

If you are looking for a guaranteed success in impressing your date, consider the Piano Romance concert by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Alvin Ailey is one of the country's most enduring and popular dance companies, and its performances in Atlanta are always well-attended. If you aren't up for an evening of pure ballet, consider this company, with its more modern repertoire. There will be several different pieces performed throughout the evening, so it gives your attention span a break if you're not used to full-length evenings of dance. This will definitely be a sexy, inspiring evening.

Into the Woods
Elm Street Cultural Arts Village

Woodstock, GA 30188

Date: Feb. 14-16, 21-23, 2014

If you've seen the "South Park" episode "Broadway Bro Down," you know that romantic partners who don't enjoy musicals often score points with their partners by sitting through an evening of Sondheim. "Into the Woods" is a re-telling of Grimm fairytales in a thought-provoking and emotionally moving manner. Even if you don't consider yourself a fan of traditional musicals, you will find yourself involved in the story. Best of all, your date will be happy that you thought of her feelings in planning an evening she will remember.
