Atlanta Police Arrest Over 90 Protesters

Atlanta Police Department reported they had made 95 arrests as of 11 p.m. Monday night.

Most of the arrests occurred before the 9 p.m. curfew.

The majority of protesters cleared the streets without incident, said APD spokesman Sergeant John in a statement.

However, a group of protesters remained inside Centennial Olympic Park and refused to leave.  A CNN producer reports seeing that some of them hurling projectiles after the curfew came.

Sergeant Chaffee said some protesters threw rocks and discharged fireworks toward officers. Tear gas was used to disperse the crowd and several arrests were made.

He continues, "We have encountered several issues during the day including instances where protesters blocked traffic on several roadways and briefly entered onto the interstate."

APD officers worked through the night to ensure compliance with the curfew.
