Atlanta Mayor Issues Exec. Order Limiting Restaurants To Take-Out, Closing Bars And Gyms

ATLANTA, Ga. (CW69 News at 10) -- Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms made the following announcement on Twitter today:

"I have signed an Executive Order, effective at midnight, limiting restaurants to take out service, closing bars, gyms, etc. The fate of cities across the globe will be upon soon if we do not follow recommendations on ways to slow the spread of the Coronavirus.  To help assist restaurants with providing take out take service, I have signed an Executive Order suspending towing and booting of vehicles in the City's right of way."

The order requires the closure of all Atlanta bars and nightclubs that do not serve food, gyms and fitness centers, movie theaters, live performance venues, bowling alleys, arcades and private social clubs.

In addition, restaurants are not allowed to offer dine-in services. However, the order stipulates they may continue to serve customers through deliveries, drive-through service or take-out. The exceptions are hospitals, nursing homes or similar facilities.
