4 Positives From Hawks' Opening Night Loss To Detroit

The Atlanta Hawks dropped the season opener to the Detroit Pistons 106-94.  Despite the result, there were certainly some positives, aside from the fact that there are 81 games left.

1)  The strong play of Dennis Schröder

Schröder had a stout preseason and carried it over into the regular season.  He shot 8-14, including 2-5 from three and finished with a team-high 20 points.  He was also active on the defensive end with 2 steals and several deflections.

2)  Lamar Patterson

Patterson didn't know he made the team until a few days ago.  Not only did he get the final roster spot, but he was Coach Bud's first shooting guard off the bench.  He was a team-high +10 and made the only shot he took...Atlanta's first three of the season.

3)  Thabo Sefolosha's defense

In his first regular season game since last season's injury, Sefolosha shined on the defensive end.  He grabbed 7 rebounds and had 4 steals in just 19 minutes off the bench.

4)  The well-rounded frontcourt

Both Al Horford and Paul Millsap contributed on both ends of the court.  Horford finished 6-11 after an 0-3 start, and Millsap shot 7-15.  Horford had 3 blocks and 2 steals, while Millsap grabbed 8 boards and had 3 assists.
