12/5: Nelson Mandela dead at 95; Crippling ice storm stretches from Texas to Tenn.

      |Former South African President Nelson Mandela, the man who led his country's peaceful transition out of apartheid and became the country's first black president, died Thursday. He had been battling a lung infection for many months; and, Parts of Texas are already covered in ice, in Oklahoma, the governor has declared a state of emergency, and utility workers in Arkansas have been put on standby for what could be the worst storm in four years.
