I saw the movie and i confirm, it is a dream !! Beautiful and incredible story, a bit like Buena Vista Social Club, marvelous interviews and a great man, so peaceful after all these moneyless years ! A lesson.

@ Transatlantique Rodriguez was a singer back in the mid-late 1960's and recorded a couple of albums but wasn't selling well. But decades later, someone brought one of his records, "Cold Fact", to Cape Town, South Africa and quickly became a superstar after several bootleg copies were made. One of the songs he recorded "I Wonder" became a theme during the apartheid period in South Africa. People thought that he was dead and there were several stories on how he died from setting himself on fire to killing himself on stage.

There is a documentary film out called "Searching For Sugarman" about finding Rodriguez. A group of music journalists were trying to find out the story on how he died but wound up opening a new chapter that he is alive. I saw the film last night and it's an amazing story. All of the songs in this film are Rodriguez's original recordings.

Artists quite often labor and struggle sometimes for entire lifetimes just to remain Faithful to their Art and Purpose. It's gratifying to see such an Artist as this receiving the acclaim he's always deserved.
