Ms. Logan is an exceptional journalist and I am so thankful that real journalism is not completely dead. General Allen is a hero along with all of the other men and women fighting for our freedoms. However this is just one more example of the "untruths" our current administration is trying to insult our intelligence with. Does anyone realize that less than a month after this interview was aired General Allen was reassigned to Brussels? You tell me that wasn't this administration telling him he should keep his mouth shut.

Now now for more clarification on why we are facing "insider killings" in Afghanistan: http://www.meforum.org/3328/afghanistan-insider-killings .

Great reporting Lara but even better was your speech at the Better Government Association annual luncheon. You really get it now. Your speech was a well spring of truth, honesty, understanding, and vision!

Excellent report by Lara Logan - truly one of America's finest reporters. I appreciate her willingness to put herself at great risk in pursuit of the truth. Thank you for courageously approving this segment even though it is obviously unfavorable to our current administration's policies and handling of this war.

Sadly, only a few of the comments here recognize the truths within this excellent report. Afghanistan is an important part of American foreign policy. As the report makes abundantly clear, the Taliban and Al-Qaeda are holding their base and moving forward for more. Afghanistan will fall into their hands shortly after the American and NATO troops leave. Every horror we have experienced will again be looming because this American president has said that he only wants to keep up appearances through the election and then we will surrender.

One question, how is it that Laura Logan can talk to a terrorist and NOT be in danger? Just how long will we have to put up with the media going out and talking with the enemy while they plan their attacks? And, I also agree that China (and other nations of Islam - which Islam is deep in China) are supporting the terrorists. I don't think that there will be an answer, but these men have been given a mission by this gov. to do a job and they are doing it the best they can. What is terrifying is the fact that we have to try to get out of these places sooner or later and without any more of our troops being killed. The less troops, the more dangerous it becomes. Common sense seems to be a rare thing in our gov. when it comes to using our military; but our military have common sense and are the best in the world. It is such comments from Viet Nam vets that are important to listen to; and any others who have been there or are there - not to the media...or listening to politicians who NEVER put on a uniform. Yes, these countries are causing harm and will continue to do so no matter what we do; and, we better be prepared because we need to strengthen our own country by investing in businesses here instead of people taking their business overseas to any other country...we have to rebuild our nation or we are in real trouble, just like the nations that we have been TRYING to help. When we get in trouble, who are we suppose to depend on? Well, it's apparent that our politicians do not understand they HAVE to support businesses in this country - but businesses have to understand that we are STILL in countries that we are in a constant battle with. We have to SUPPORT OUR NATION if we are going to pull out of this with any hope. We CAN NOT force another country to do anything; we went there to help - and we were also attacked several times before 9/11 before we finally went to war. Some people forget history. But, we need to use common sense. We also have the nation of Israel - who do not want a war and warned us about Iran before we went to Iraq...now we are so close to another war it is alarming and yes, people, I agree, get the emergency kits and stuff just in case. God Bless America. God Bless our troops.

The rules of engagement HAVE to be changed. It does no good to try to help the people who WANT to be helped if we are being killed in the process. Also, the vetting process for those people who are trained has to be seriously thought out - it does no good to train people who will kill us or wait for us to leave to kill the very people that do not want to be psychotic murders. We could have helped Afghanistan and Iraq so much if we didn't have to fight a war that cost over a trillion dollars (well, total cost if you count all the contractors) and the countries leaders would have let us go in and give direct aide to the people. In Afghanistan we have to pay off their president (well, he takes his money off the top of any "aide" we give to the country before the people are "helped" any) as did Pakistan. In Iraq they are beginning to see they can still do the same thing. It's not easy to see an ending to this situation when there are so many of the "leaders" of these countries of Islam who encite their people to kill everyone and even commit suicide themselves so the survivors can gather the spoils of war. Poor people, they don't even realize that they are committing suicide for greedy people who want them to die so that they aren't a burden; or so that their "leaders" can take what they leave behind. Teaching children to kill themselves is a mental disorder. This is a real bad situation. Trying to win the "hearts and minds" thing is impossible when there are people who want to change their way of life but are threatened by their "leaders" by death if they do not comply with their psychotic way of life. There are so many videos of these people and their actual murders of their own people for no reason other than they just do it for the sake of their "leaders". It's an honor to listen to General Allen, and we all pray for the men and women who protect this country every day - especially those in harms way, no matter where they are.

The truth is the people of Afghanistan and Pakistan hate America and Americans for reasons that should be plain to understand. When you kick down doors in the middle of night and kill women and children with drones.. you tend to gain enemies and hatred by the millions and billions. And when the billions hate you... well. Our Armed Forces Command has been infiltrated by satanic mind control. Please read warningfrogod and store a one year supply of food.

ROE NEEDS TO CHANGE!!!! That will fix alot of insider attacks... The Taliban know that the US and NATO forces are trying to protect themselves from negative political gains too much to allow soldiers to die doin the job they are trained to do. They train us to shoot and take down bad guys.. The military does not train to walk around in full gear to not shoot anyone if such siuation arrise, If so we are trained to be targets of opportunity not as some force to wrecken with. Its simple, change the rules of engagement and the insider attacks will decrease significantly. We need more show of force and train the Afghans in that manor as well.
Regards,
Currently deployed US Army Soldier.

Only intelligent people wuld understand this.

No, there are no safe heavens anywhere. All one needs is one man to throw a grenade. They all are local Afghans/Pashuns and they do not know where the so called corderline starts on the map you have in your hand. No need to scapegoat any other country or any bogus rhetoric of safe heavens anywhere. No one needs to travel to west of country only to throw a grenade or two while they can do it right from the borderline if that were the case. Also, they are the same people who hve driven empires thrughout the history.

Besides, so called safe heavens have been bombarded with drone attacks already and result is that attacks continue and will continue because you are dealing with local indigenous people no matter what side of border, they will take revenge for the attacks.

In addition, Karzai is just a wicked man loking to milk cash cow as much as he can by simply joining the bandwagon of scapegoating other cpuntries.
