Clinton: "Assad will still have to go"

June 30, 2012 2:49 PM

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Saturday endorsed an international plan laid out by Kofi Annan, UN special envoy to Syria, to transition the violent nation to a unity government, but made clear that President Bashar al-Assad "will still have to go," despite lacking text in the agreement that explicitly requires it.

Very simply, Assad is committing mass genocide which can't be tolerated. It's not President Obama's job to police the entire world. This requires international condemnation and a joint effort. Also, we cannot force other societies to adhere to our belief system. However, we can be a powerful voice in assisting in the universal dream of a free and just society which is what we do and I'm grateful we have Barack and Hillary as a dynamic team providing direction. As an optimist, I believe we're on an unmistakeable trajectory toward a more free world and along the way, we'll have to encounter unsavory characters such as Putin, Assad and many others as well as un-democratic policies in countries like China which will eventually transform into free economic spheres since the will of the masses will prevail as their citizens reap the rewards of long term economic expansion.

Assad is not going anywhere..The rebels if you want to call them that are Islamist wishing to continue the Arab Spring..The difference is that Assad had a good teacher on how to handle insurgents..His father killed over 30,000 the last time it was tried. This will continue until there are no more rebels to be killed, and for what reason..They, (the rebels) want control and Assad has it. Do you think there is a chance in ....he's going to walk away from it? Do you not see the final results of the ahem, democratic loving arab spring rebels? Sharia law imposed, Christian churches burned..Yup, that's the end result of the rebels so called democratic desires.

This Administration has already admitted that no one knows who all the players are in Syria. It's mind boggling how we are so willing to get mixed up in the inner politics of another soverign country when we're in the midst of a political mess here in this country. The Republicans and Democrats in Congress have done just about everything except fired shots at each other so we should probably tone down our rhetoric and let the UN solve the Syrian mess.

After Hillary and Obama gave Egypt 1.5 billion, and the mess there why is she still running her mouth about Syria? Maybe she needs to pay some attention to our southern border and the Mexican killings, closer to home?????????

If Assad has to go,there should be a specific UNSC resolution to that effect. He would not go away to please Hillary Clinton William Hague.

The Syrian compromise consists of an agreement by the major powers to use Vaseline when dealing with Assad. More can be gained by the smother approach than an irritating one. Submission is the golden rule of Islam Assad is willing to bow but the super powers must allow him to rise for a short breath of fresh air.
