Boehner: Raising revenues like feeding cocaine addiction

June 21, 2012 1:52 PM

Asked by CBS News Congressional correspondent Nancy Cordes whether Republicans are warming to raising revenues, House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, said Thursday that while he's open to discussing it, right now "giving this government more revenue would be like giving a cocaine addict who wants to quit more cocaine."

I would choose a cocaine addiction over being a member of the Republican Scumbag Mafia or a Foxbot moron.

When Republicans were last in control of both the executive and legislative branches, they spent like drunken sailors (Iraq war, etc.), helped to nuke the economy in 2008 (this was decades in the making and President Clinton is also at fault here) which reduced tax revenues, AND slashed tax rates, especially on the very rich, and thus created this long-term structural deficit that apparently is now all Obama's fault, even though under Obama federal spending has increased at the slowest rate since Eisenhower.

When they are out of power, suddenly they become born again "fiscal conservatives" and rail against debt, spending, and deficits.

Taxes are currently at an historic low. Republicans are not debt virgins because they lost the presidency. They discovered debt in 2008.

Fine, so reduce spending back to what it was 60 years ago cause that's what level revenue is now.

He can do it, he's running congress and that is where all these spending bills come from.

The Whitehouse doesn't make laws, they sign them.

I believe the real addiction that Boehner and all elected officials should be concerned with is their fund raising efforts for re-election. Term Limits for everyone!
