It is so sad because these brave men and woman go protect and serve but when they come home they are changed. The divorce rate is high and the disabilities these soldiers have then the government don't care when they are through with these soldiers. Homelessness is high the government needs to do something better for the people who put their lives on the line to keep us free and safe.

Yep and this is the reason why I dont really support long drawn out wars. If they wanna breed some psychos to send over there to kill then fine and dandy.. let those ******* die but no, they have to destroy a decent person's mind instead. Government really just doesnt care who's lives they ruin. You're just another casualty ... another number.

I don't understand what part is not murder? He beat this young lady, that has her life ahead of her with his bare hands!!! Now he wants to give a reason "WHY"; what about stopping and deciding not to kill her!
I understand he was in Iraq serving his country{my son also was there}
but to use it as a excuse to kill this 19yr old young lady. To hear
his Father say how much he loves his son and never mention the young
Jackie's family missing her.I can say that there are so many sercrets
about the military we may never understand what really happens to our young men when they return home. MAY GOD BLESS BOTH FAMILIES

I don't think he was using PTSD as a crutch. Lots of people have it and do murder anyone, yes. But the many who are already fragile, and acquire PTSD, and aren't properly treated, can simply not be held accountable when something like this happens. He obviously loved her very much and would not have done this had he had his wits about him.

Its a shame on what happened to both. But its sad to say Our Government hides everything. They show young men and women how wonderful life can be serving there Country. But they don't tell them the outcome. The government uses are men and women. The brain wash them, they use them, the destroy them. These men and women put there lives on the line to protect OUR Country. Its a shame how they really are treated. The government is to blame. The only one that should be punished is Our Governmental System. Stop Brain washing are soldiers. Tell the truth and stop covering it up with LIES. These Men and Women know what really happened. There just to afraid and scared to admit it. To all the Soldiers that came home a different person. To all those that have suffered do to OUR COUNTRY. I'm Sorry. You deserve better. RIP to all those that died. You will never be forgotten.

That poor, poor man. This country's military screwed him by not giving him proper care after the things to which he was witness, and beyond that- putting him BACK into combat! Not to mention how he was wronged by this country's doctors, putting him on a mixture of meds but not giving him CARE. I believe he never would have killed the woman he loved, nor anyone else, had this multitude of people only given him the care he needed from the beginning. RIP to both of those lovely young people. :(

Its about time the true affects of PTSD are FINALLY being recognized. My company provides transportation for the "maryland commitment to veterans" program which shortcuts the red tape to help these guys. What was shown about PTSD is true, not to mention the drug addiction, alcohol addiction, and other mental problems we deal with. We've even had a vet who was undergoing treatment jump off his 3rd story appartment building, and survive. We have another living in the woods because hes afraid he will hurt his family. These guys are coming back with problems, then put on the street where they can't find jobs. We've had to transport guys like Mr. Needham from jail to treatment centers. Transporting these guys, and gals, day after day, we have heard horror stories and seen their wounds for ourselves. Mr. Needham looks like a classic case. Thank You CBS news for FINALLY bringing attention to this. I understand that Maryland is the ONLY state that has a mental health program in place to help these guys. I think thats disgusting. Those that don't think this is real probably must think war is a video game that you turn off and go out with your friends afterward.
