As secretary of defense, Leon Panetta is fighting multiple wars, pursuing al Qaeda, and trying to keep Iran from building an atom bomb. Scott Pelley reports; Then, some exotic animal species that are endangered in Africa are thriving on ranches in Texas, where a limited number are hunted for a high price. Lara Logan reports; Also, Matt Stone and Trey Parker are both both irreverent and heartwarming, just like their creations "South Park" and the hit Broadway musical "The Book of Mormon." So antelope are special, what about cows? we kill them all the time. The fact is that someone else is willing to pay to have an animal bread, raised and kept alive to be sold later on. whether the animal gets shot or turned into hamburger has nothing to do with what species it is. The idea that antelope deserve special attention to cows is ridiculous.

I found the story on big game hunting in Texas remarkably objective. It wouldn't matter to PETA or conservationists that these rare and magnificent creatures became extinct, as long as their righteous view of morality was upheld. Is that not the ultimate irony? Many are already officially extinct in the wild. The report did not offer the argument that in the best of all worlds, these animals would be hunted down by predators in the wild, who often hunt yearlings and newborns.
